El Nino and Al-Qaida did their best to put a damper on Mardi Gras 2003, but the parades rolled on and Mardi Gras spirit was high. Crowds were much lighter than past years and we did miss seeing any sunshine. We held our breath and the orange alert turned yellow instead of red. Just in case there was plenty of duct tape and plastic sheeting on hand. It actually came in handy for Monday's rain.

On the plus side we only caught eight parades and brought home more than 125 lbs. in beads, 200+ krewe go-cups and a cooler full of doubloons and stuffed animals. I finally caught my very first Leviathan doll (Elvira caught two)!!! If you wonder what we are gonna do with 125 lbs. of beads, they will be sorted and the green and white strands will be recycled at the Atlanta St. Pats Parade and the rest will be recycled at the Nashville Mardi Gras in May Parade.

The Krewe of Elvis had a great party and march. We fell in behind Pete Fountain's Half Fast Walking Club on Bourbon Street and the crowds parted for our passing. Too cool.

More than we have ever brought home before!

I met Santa's little helpers at Popeyes.

Looks like she is talking non-stop.

Beadbabe and Tim waiting in the rain for the very last Orpheus
float carrying Judy Amberle who threw us great stuff.

The Krewe of Elvis parade extended an entire city block.
Our 2003 theme was Luau on the Bayou.
